Claudio Edinger, a graduate in Economics, is the author of 14 photography books and a novel. He began teaching photography in 1979 at Parsons School of Design and later at the International Center of Photography, both in New York.
Edinger started his photographic journey in the early 1970s while studying Economics at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie in São Paulo. In 1975, he held his first solo exhibition at MASP, showcasing photographs of São Paulo’s iconic Martinelli building. The following year, he relocated to New York, where he lived and worked until 1996.
His photographs have appeared in some of the world’s most prestigious publications, including Stern, The New York Times, London Sunday Times, Vanity Fair, Frankfurter Allgemeine, El País, Time, Paris Match, Newsweek, and more. Edinger’s work has been exhibited at major international and national institutions, including the International Center of Photography in New York, the Pompidou Center in Paris, the Photographer’s Gallery in London, Perpignan Photo Fest in France, Higashikawa Photo Fest in Japan, the São Paulo Museum of Art, the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS), Instituto Cultural Itaú, Casa da Cultura Judaica, and the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil.
Today, his work is represented in numerous private and public collections worldwide.
